This edition was produced in 2010 on occasion of the exhibition Nothing is Forever.


Ernst Caramelle participated in the group exhibition Nothing is Forever, 2010, presenting hand-painted blocks of colour which transformed three domestic-scale galleries into abstract works of art. Nothing is Forever celebrated the completion of the SLG’s £2 million building project, bringing together wall paintings, drawings and text pieces by 20 British and international artists. Seamlessly integrating art and architecture, and with each work destined to be embedded in the fabric of the buildings when painted over at the end of the show, Nothing is Forever marked an important and transitional moment in the South London Gallery’s history.  

 

ABOUT ERNST CARAMELLE

Ernst Caramelle, born in Tyrol, Austria, 1952, attended the University of Applied Art in Vienna. In 1981, he started his teaching career at the Städelschule in Frankfurt on the Main, while holding posts at the University of Applied Art in Vienna, as well as at other international institutions. Since 1994, he has been a professor at the Karlsruhe Art Academy. He lives between Karlsruhe, Frankfurt, and New York. Caramelle’s artistic approach stands in the tradition of concept art, which considers the idea as equal to the artistic product, whether realised or not. Since the eighties he has involved himself in mural painting, as he did also on the occasion of his participation in Documenta IX 1992 in Kassel.

The South London Gallery Shop sells books & magazines, gifts, cards, stationery and artist limited editions. The Shop opening hours are:

  • Mondays Closed
  • Tuesdays 12pm-6pm
  • Wednesdays 12pm-9pm
  • Thursdays 12pm-6pm
  • Fridays 12pm-6pm
  • Saturdays & Sundays 11am-6pm

Your order will normally be dispatched within 3-4 working days, at which point you will be sent a dispatch email from us. How long your order takes to arrive will vary depending on the items you have purchased and their most appropriate shipping method.  For artist editions please see question 8. The approximate time frames are as follows:

·         EU - 5-10 days

·         US - 5-10 days

·         Rest of the world - 14-21 days
