His exhibition, also titled \u003cem\u003eEncantados\u003c\/em\u003e, is on view at the SLG from 1 May – 23 August 2026.  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cbr\u003ePjota is a Brazilian artist whose paintings draw on art history, popular culture, mythology and folk tales, merging multiple and often contrasting references. His approach borrows from the sampling and remixing practices adopted in Brazilian hip-hop and rap music, as well as on his experiences as a graffiti artist when he was a teenager.  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cbr\u003eHe creates magical environments populated by mythical characters. The sun, stars and moon are recurring motifs in Pjota’s cosmos, as are ancient and modern vases, shells and invented vessels, often brimming with flowers and hybrid plants. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cbr\u003eIn his engraving\u003cem\u003e Encantados\u003c\/em\u003e, insects, fish and invertebrates explore a mysterious land with a castle in the distance.
